Procedure

The obtained strips are affected by a number of “curves” caused by bamboo knots as well as by the wood fibers.

To make the strip straight it is firstly heated with an high temperature hair dryer; once it is adequately warm it becomes malleable so the imperfections are manually corrected one at a time with a continuous visual control.

Next also the knots are heated and flatted in a vice; this operation permits to eliminate bulges present without removing vital fibers from the strips as it would happen if removed with a file.
